Somewhere along the way (eBay I think) I got a good solid old-school pack basket. It’s perfect for packing a pretty big pile of camping miscellany that comes in handy. Visible on top of the basket is a blue groundcloth.
(1) is an old folding candle lantern (Lee Valley still stocks them), (2) pocket umbrella, (3) Outdoor Products Small Watertight Box with tea and coffee bags, sugar packets, salt and pepper. (4) Fire starters; birchbark, eastern red cedar bark, egg carton and wax, commercial fire log starters. (5) Sil-nylon tarp, (6) Old Stanley insulated mug and a plastic bowl, gutter spike tarp stakes and tarp lines in a ditty bag, (8) Rollaroaster and a novelty telescoping fork, (9) a small first-aid, survival kit, (10) flint and steel, buckskin pouch, hexamine tablets, char cloth, magnesium fire starter, (11) Strikeforce Fire Starter, (12) utensil roll with paring knives, spoons and forks, rice paddle, and Rome campfire tongs, (13) plastic box with Campsuds, Aquimira, clothespins, tissues, etc.
