To Mason Turner, who asked about how to connect with troops to find a den chief:
Hopefully your pack has been assigned a unit commissioner, and hopefully your commissioner is in touch with your pack leadership from time to time. Your commissioner can be a great resource for putting you in touch with troops in your area. Explain to your commissioner that you’re trying to obtain den chiefs. He or she may also be assigned to other troops or will be able to work with another commissioner to introduce you and to make your needs known. If you don’t know who your unit commissioner is, check with your district executive or council service center.
The troops that do respond will be the ones that are interested in recruiting your Cub Scouts into their troop when the time comes. A troop that turns its back on Cub Scouts is one that is not likely to grow or sustain its membership and program, and that’s not a troop you would want to be associated with anyway. Any troop that has a good program with active Scouts is likely to be eager and willing to provide den chiefs.
