Preparedness is Awareness
Being prepared is not only knowing what to do or having the right gear.
Skill and gear absent awareness of surroundings it is of little use.
Awareness is a contextual understanding of the relationships between environment, action and resources.
Awareness is taking it all in, seeing the whole picture before acting.
Scouting hones the skills of observation and inquiry; What is the result of this course of action? How does the context of the situation affect the action?
Results are tied to the level of awareness.
Scouting is at its best when Scouts experience the direct results of their decision making.
