1000 and Counting
Allow me a self-congratulatory moment as, with this post, the Scoutmaster Blog reaches the 1000 post mark.
I started writing the blog almost five years ago (here’s the first post ) as an exercise in sorting out my own thinking and in the vague hope that someone may find it useful. The weekly podcast started in January of this year and now demands most of the time I spend on the blog.
Blogging and podcasting are kind of like writing or speaking into thin air and hoping someone takes notice.
Every comment, email, review, and rating are incredibly important benchmarks that folks are reading or listening.
Thanks to all of you who participate! Here’s more numbers: According to Typepad: 928360 lifetime page views, 547.06 average page views/day, 1000 total posts, 887 total comments.
Feedburner tells me I have around 230 subscribers any given day. It seems to be a real challenge for anyone with a podcast to determine exactly how many folks are listening. One gauge is the number of times the podcast is downloaded from the blog (about 180 times or more for most of the editions of the Scoutmaster podcasts) but I have no idea if this includes iTunes subscriptions or not. The Scoutmaster Blog Facebook page has been ’liked’ by 573 people as of this writing and draws comments and likes.
I basically use Twitter as a tool to transfer the blog postings to Facebook so I don’t keep much of an eye on who is following my tweets.
Thanks for listening, thanks for reading and thanks for responding!
