Like Walter I accumulated a collection of Scoutmaster Handbooks. From the very first edition to the last they were uniformly mediocre at best. Both Walter and I agree that the most useful offical guide to how Scout troops work remains the Senior Patrol Leader Handbook – but that the first volume of the Troop leader Guidebook is a very valuable resource. Although the guidebook is only available as a three-hole-punched paper edition (provide your own binder) the appendix of useful forms and reference information is available as a PDF document here .
