Thank you so much for such a detailed and thoughtful answer to my question. I had no idea it would actually turn into a podcast topic.
I will be spending a lot more time with the boys, and asking a lot more questions on our November campout.
Do you limit this to just yourself in camp? I’m afraid having too many adults in camp will be a hindrance to the Scouts.
You will want to keep adults from interfering. When you visit the Scout’s campsite show the other adults what this means by example. Don’t shy from frankly discussing what constitutes interference and being sure that you are understood.
As I said in the podcast as you gain experience and skill your way of doing things will change and the distance you can comfortably give your Scouts will grow.
