What has a Mesoamerican Step Pyramid got to do with this?
Today I want to talk about leadership, but I want to see if I can get you to come along with me and really examine what this means in Scouting.
Leadership in Scouting is based on discovery.
I have (what I hope is a great) analogy to share with you, and this one is a whopper! It’s a really complicated analogy, you may have to go back and listen to it again.
Imagine you discover an ancient pre-Columbian, Mesoamerican step pyramid in the forest. Wouldn’t that be something? You are out hiking and you stumble on this terrific structure, you climb all over the pyramid, wow, you can see a long way from the top. You devote yourself to studying the pyramid, and learn how to understand the symbols, and there’s a great message in those symbols that changes your life.
This is exciting, isn’t it? You want to share this incredible discovery so you run back to town and get a bunch of young people together and take them out to the pyramid…
You’ll have to listen to the podcast for the rest, I hope it works for you.
