I put this pioneering book together for our scouts when we were working on pioneering merit badge. Knots, lashings and methods that were absent from or poorly explained in the official merit badge book are included. The average merit badge book is rather dismal; hopefully this one is a little more engaging.
The booklet includes the revised requirements as of 1/06
The PDF is set to print the booklet on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, two sides, folded in half and stapled on the spine.
This booklet is a GREAT resource for studying and understanding boy scout knots and lashigs…thanks so much for putting it together!!!
Never mind — it was my PC! Thanks!
Hi,
I realize this was posted almost three years ago, but I cannot download the link to the .pdf of your Pioneering Book. Is there any chance you can update the link?
I will try from my home PC and see if I can get it to load error-free.
Thanks. By the way, I have one son who crossed over last Feb from Webelos to Boy Scouts and he is going to be attending a Merit Badge College in Feb & March, and this is one of the choices. My other son is a Webelos II and will soon be crossing over, this March. This weekend we’re camping with the troop (only for the day — temperature at least will be warmer than the -25F today — I guess tomorrow night the coldest it is going to get is 4degF. Thanks in advance for helping me out – Kathy Schnyer (Pack 297, Swanzey NH)

Wow, this is pretty impressive and much easier to follow than many of the typical resources on know tying. It has been far too long since I have built something massive out of cedar poles and rope…
