Backpacking, Climbing, Kayaking, Cycling
At Goshen Scout Reservation crews backpack from outpost to outpost on mountain trails on a schedule they choose. Program outposts include forge, caving, rock climbing, mountain biking, mountain man, civil war, and lumber jack. Crews arrive on Sunday and leave on Saturday. Crews visit 3-4 outposts and do one night of ‘primitive’ camping. In addition there is a week long canoe trek program. Food is provided for crews.
Goshen Scout Reservation is located about three and one-half hours from Washington, D.C., near Lexington, Virginia, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It sets on 4500 acres of some of the most beautiful country in America, surrounding our own 450-acre Lake Merriweather, which is used for the varied water activities that make summer camp exciting and comfortable.
Lenhok’sin was developed through out the late 70’s and early 80’s at Goshen Scout Reservation. It began as a trail program at a Boy Scout Camp and but eventurally it gained enough excitment that it took over as a full summer fully staffed independent camp. It was home to one of the Nation’s first COPE programs.
