I’ve been contacted by a number of companies who offer Scout fundraiser opportunities and I’ve turned them all down until today.
When Paul Geatches from Country Meats contacted me I had my guard up. Most of the opportunities I hear about don’t meet two very basic personal criteria; value for money, and pricing that corresponds to a normal retail price. Selling a product at an artificially inflated “fundraiser price” has always bothered me. I’d rather make a donation than pay five dollars for a seventy-five cent candy bar.
I spent some time looking over Country Meats, reading about the company and the Scout fundraiser plan, and decided that it’s definitely one you should know about.
Here’s the plan; buy their product, sell it and keep 45% of the proceeds- simple, and with fundraising simple is good!
The high quality product (sixteen different flavors of meat stick snacks) retail for $1.00 each, which is actually less than what I’d expect to pay for a similar product in a convenience store. I have tried out the sample pack I received and they are really very good.
Here’s the Geatches family.
It’s worth your time to read the company story, they have been around for over thirty-five years and have sold over 63 million smoked snacks, all for fundraising. These folks are the real deal.

So the results are in and our boys loved the flavors. (I think some are too salty). We are on our third case and they are still offering the special deal. We get 10 free sticks with our order (the equivalent of the shipping cost). Our biggest problem is that the guys are buying the sticks instead of selling them! I opened the box at church one morning and a starving choir member bought some before I was even set up. They keep for a long time, are in impulse buy, cost a buck and customers are happy. Thanks for turning us on to this!
got the samples in, cut them up and gave them to scouts to try. They said they were OK, but nothing special. They prefer the taste of the ones from the store better. Tasted kind of bland, but still not bad.
We are selling popcorn. But our new best friends are these meat sticks we are probably averaging 900 a week. They will be a great supplement for our philmont fund for next year
Sorry we missed the promotional cut-off but we are going to check this out. We need something that people can buy on impulse at a street fair.
If you don’t like paying $5 for a $.75 candy bar, how do you feel about paying $10 for $4 worth of popcorn?
We’ve never sold popcorn for that very reason.
