Every so often I am asked for ideas about choosing gifts for Eagle Scouts (gifts for new Eagles Scouts are nice, but they aren’t expected as a rule). I believe any Eagle Scout would be pleased to receive any of the gifts listed here.

Buck 110 knife. Take it to the mall to the local engraving place. Have them put the Eagle Head on one corner, Scout’s name on another, Troop Number on another and whatever you want on another. The gold ends engrave real nice. I’m getting one done right now for a new Eagle. I keep thinking that I’m going to retire and then some Scout from six years ago, when I was SM, finishes his Eagle. Wow!
I’ve given old Boy Scout Handbooks from the 30’s and 40’s. It’s interesting to see what has changed (Bee Keeping Merit Badge) and what hasn’t (the core of scouting).
I encourage parents to give a life membership in NESA as a gift to new Eagle Scouts.
A friend’s son did his Eagle project at a bird of prey center. I obtained a couple of photos of their birds and converted one into a curved glass print with a caption. The hope is that he’ll remember what he did for birds like Icarus (in the photo).
